2010 World Cup Safety Tips

This is a high-crime rate and safety is a major concern for everyone in the work of the 2010 World Cup. FIFA and the South African government are very aware that safety is the number one concern for visitors, and they are spending over a billion Rand to make positive that all runs smoothly.
I have put together some basic tips that will help you stay safe. I have also collected information about what steps the authorities are taking to make positive a safe and fun 2010 World Cup in south Africa. With basic precautions the sizable majority of tourists in South Africa have an amazing time as well as a crime-free holiday. I have enjoyed plenty of myself.
Personal Safety Tips

* Hold your handbag close to your body in busy city streets
* Keep your wallet in your front pocket
* Do not walk around alone at night (always take a taxi)
* Over the bulk of your money and passport in a money belt under your clothes

* All emergencies from a land line – 107
* South African Police Service (SAPS) – 10111
Let's Be Honest About Crime in South Africa
The crime statistics are not favorable for South Africa. But it is usually more hazardous for people living in the townships or rich neighborhoods, than it is for tourists who are visiting. Think about Washington DC, that has a high crime rate but most Americans are happy to let their children take a school field trip there. It may feel a bit odd, if you are from the US, to lock your automobile and discover a person to guard it when you step out for lunch at a pleasant tiny restaurant outside of Cape Town. But, basic common sense measures will go a long way to make positive a great 2010 World Cup experience.
And Keep in mind...

* South African police are honest and will help you if/when they can.
* Most crimes happen in sizable cities and in the townships
* The sizable majority of violent, contact crime, takes place in townships and among individuals who know one another
* Tourists are never victims of violent crime

2010 World Cup Contenders: South Africa

2010 World Cup Contenders: South Africa

South Africa will play their largest ever match when facing Mexico on June 11, 2010. And the games will only grow in magnitude until the hosts are knocked out of the event.
World governing body FIFA will hope that is later than sooner, but there's genuine fears South Africa could become the first hosts ever to go out in the group stages. Uruguay and Spain are their other opponents, and while they will fear South Africa’s ‘12th man’ – the fans – on the pitch they will have less to worry about against a team that struggles to score goals.
Some dismal results saw South Africa slip as low as 86th in the world in 2009, and they failed to qualify for the African Nations Cup, finishing 11 points behind Nigeria in their group.
Bafana Bafana did reach the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup where they lost 1-0 to Brazil. But to get out of their group, they only had to win one match against New Zealand (2-0), and were held to a 0-0 draw against Iraq and beaten 2-0 by Germany in their other matches.

Joel Santana was replaced by fellow Brazilian and former coach Carlos Alberto Parreira, who insists his side will look to play the ball on the ground at the World Cup. He's also taken a hard line along with his players, stressing that they require to be playing regular matches with their clubs in order to be called up for the World Cup.
But Parreira can only do a lot. The dearth of a solid structure at grassroots level is not something that can be rectified by one man.
Quick Facts:

* Best World Cup Result: First-Round (1998 and 2002)
* Best African Nations Cup Result: Winners (1996)
* Record Scorer: Benni McCarthy
* Most Capped Player: Aaron Mokoena
* Coach: Carlos Alberto Parreira
* Captain: Aaron Mokoena
23-man South Africa World Cup Squad:
Goalkeepers: Itumeleng Khune (Kaizer Chiefs), Moeneeb Josephs (Orlando Pirates), Shu-Aib Walters (Maritzburg United)
Defenders: Matthew Booth (Mamelodi Sundowns), Siboniso Gaxa (Mamelodi Sundowns), Bongani Khumalo (Supersport United), Tsepo Masilela (Maccabi Haifa), Aaron Mokoena (Portsmouth), Anele Ngcongca (Racing Genk), Siyabonga Sangweni (Golden Arrows), Lucas Thwala (Orlando Pirates)
Midfielders: Lance Davids (Ajax Cape Town), Kagisho Dikgacoi (Fulham), Thanduyise Khuboni (Golden Arrows), Reneilwe Letsholonyane (Kaizer Chiefs), Teko Modise (Orlando Pirates), Surprise Moriri (Mamelodi Sundowns), Steven Pienaar (Everton), Siphiwe Tshabalala (Kaizer Chiefs), Macbeth Sibaya (Rubin Kazan)
Forwards: Katlego Mphela (Mamelodi Sundowns), Siyabonga Nomvete (Moroka Swallows), Bernard Parker (FC Twente)
Group Matches:
Friday, June 11, 2010 1-1 v Mexico
Wednesday, June 16, 2010 v Uruguay
Tuesday, June 22, 2010 v Spain
Prediction: First-Round

South Africa will do well to get out of this group. In Spain and Uruguay they will face teams who are hard to break down, and with a lack of flair in midfield and assault, these are likely to be low scoring games. Mexico will present a different check but will show hard opponents under Javier Aguirre.
Parreira will require the likes of Steven Pienaar on form to have any kind of chance but there is the likelihood that South Africa could be out of the competition by the time they play their third match against Spain on June 22 – 11 days after kicking the event off.Just dirving your car watch the world cup with your roof mount car DVD player !
